![]() I made this thread just awhile ago that had some niche suggestions: I feel like you kind of torpedoed your own "underrated" rules a bit suggesting Nintendo Land, I know it's on the Wii U but still, lol. Still, those two get my nomination because I think they they make the most of the possibilities when it comes to player interaction to create experiences that are both highly novel, and almost endlessly varied. They subvert expectations with novel mechanics and for players who aren't very familiar with video games generally, they can be challenging and perhaps overwhelming.įor instance, in Ultimate Chicken Horse, it's very easy to make a stage that feels overwhelming or impossible to someone who hasn't played platformers before, and in Crawl it's easy to kite and bully someone with aoe abilities and keepaway if they're not especially familiar with how to deal with those types of mechanics. They're designed for people that have explored the surface level stuff and want to play something perhaps a bit more interesting than your Mario Karts or Overcooked style games. ![]() The major caveat to them, I would say is that they're both very. I think they're both very clever games that make the most of the interactivity between players. In Ultimate Chicken Horse you're all fighting to build a stage that you can beat that you think your opponents cannot. In Crawl, the opposing players create the hazards as you traverse the dungeon by possessing objects and summoning monsters that they control. I think both of these games are really clever because they use player interaction to create dynamic challenges each time you play. Maybe a whole hour just for one game.Īnother one I really love is Ultimate Chicken Horse. The only caveat is that a session can last quite a bit of time. I really enjoy Crawl, I think it's a great game if you can get a group of players to play who are into it. I'm open to suggestions for anything in this genre that tends to fly under the radar, be it new, retro, or anything in between, meaning that the likes of Overcooked, Fall Guys, and Among Us sadly do not qualify :) The 5 player modes are a very solid reason to own a Wii U as far as I've concerned (still pissed that it never got any DLC, goddamn injustice right there). ![]() It will forever remain on my list as some of the most fun I've ever had with a videogame:Īnd while I'm still here, I must throw some love at Nintendo Land. Guess I'll judge it for myself next weekend.Īlthough it's not quite a party game, this topic immediately reminded me of my undying love for the criminally underrated Co-Op Survival Mode from Shank 2. Just from looking at the gameplay and quirky art style, it seems like a fantastic time. I didn't get a chance to give it a try yet, need to get some folks together first (SOON!), but I've always felt that nearly everyone overlooked this one. This thread was inspired by the recently released PC port of Very Very Valet, the Switch exclusivity is apparently over: ![]()
